Although Katy Perry has yet to speak out publicly about her split from husband Russell Brand, she sent a pretty clear message out about her post-breakup emotions via Sundays night's Grammy performance of new single "Part of Me."

The midtempo pop song — Perry's next single — features several key phrases that speak to her relationship with Brand and the apparent emotional ups and downs she suffered along the way.

"Days like this I want to drive away/ Pack bags and watch your shadow fade/ You chewed me up and spit me out like I was poison in your mouth/ You took my life, you drank me down/ But that was then and this is now."

Perry's message in the song is one of empowerment and moving on, with lyrics like "This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me," "You're not going to break my soul" and "Look at me, I'm a sparkling firework, a dancing flame/ You'll never put me out again, I'm glowing."

She briefly touches on the ever-present public attention she receives, wanting to throw away her phone and trying to discover who her real friends are.

Perry's most intense lyrics accuse a former lover of deception and a lost innocence, the most obvious Russell reference being a statement about her wedding band: "You can keep the diamond ring, it don't mean nothing anyway/ In fact, you can keep everything — except for me."

This isn't the first time Perry has taken to songwriting to express feelings over a public breakup. The Teenage Dream track "Circle the Drain" reportedly presented a powerful picture of her rocky relationship with "Gym Glass Heroes" frontman Travie McCoy: "You fall asleep during foreplay/ 'Cause the pills you take/ Are more your forte/ I'm not sticking around to watch you go down/ Wanna be your lover/ Not your f---ing mother/ Can't be your savior/ I don't have the power/ I'm not gonna stay and watch you circle the drain."

"E.T." kicked off Katy Perry's triumphant return to the spotlight when she took the stage at the 2012 Grammy Awards Sunday (February 12). But the singer soon transitioned the spacey Teenage Dream track into a brand-new song, clearly referencing her breakup from Russell Brand as she sassily kissed off her heartbreak while she performed on TV for the first time since the split.

Wearing her now-signature blue hair and a body-hugging silver bodysuit, Perry was unapologetic about her negative feelings about a certain former love in the new single "Part of Me." "You chew me up and spit me up," she sang. "You took my life/ You drained me down/ But that was then, and this is now."

As the track circled its way to its scathing chorus, she proclaimed, "Look at me/ This is the part of me that you're never ever going to take away from me."

During the empowerment anthem, Perry makes some more references to a broken love affair that burned bright and burned out even harder. "I feel deep," she sang. "You let me drown." But, as the song continued, Perry proclaims her triumph over the guy who broke her heart as she sings, "Look at me/ I'm sparkling/ You will never put me out again/ So you can keep the diamond ring/ It don't mean nothing anyway."

"Part of Me" officially drops on February 21. At the Grammy Awards, Perry was up for two prizes, including Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year for "Firework." "Part of Me" is the lead single off Perry's forthcoming Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, which will be released on March 27.

Perry graced the Grammy Awards red carpet in a sparkling, baby blue gown designed by Elie Saab. Before the Grammy Awards, Perry's hair colorist, Rita Hazan, shared that she secretly wished that she would match her hair to her dress. "I feel like she's going to rock the blue and find a dress to match the hair, which I absolutely love about her," Hazan dished.

There was no kissing of shirtless men or shout-outs to Tim Tebow, but Katy Perry still made quite an impression last night. The pop music princess was a vision in pink at the MusiCares Person of the Year tribute to Sir Paul McCartney...

Ms. Perry was one of the last celebs to hit the red carpet at the Los Angeles Convention Center in a sleeveless silk and lace pink gown from French designer Alexis Mabille. But it was the "Teenage Dream" singer's hat that grabbed everyone's attention—think gigantic pink flower in full bloom. Diamond earrings, flawless makeup (va-va-va voom red lipstick!) and a peek of her still-blue hair completed the look.

Perry remained silent while taking pics and declining interviews. She was one of the many superstars on the night's lineup, giving a soulful performance of "Hey, Jude." She used a pink music stand, a conductor's baton and a crystal-covered microphone. Sir Paul also performed for the crowd of about 3,000 people as did Tony Bennett, Alicia Keys, Neil Young, Coldplay, Foo Fighters and Norah Jones, among others.

British funnyman Eddie Izzard hosted. "My forte is talking for three hours at the Hollywood Bowl and going on and on and on, so doing three-minute little bits is tricky for me," Izzard told me. "It's not an easy beat for me, so I said I would actually rather not. And then Paul said he wanted me to do it. I talked to him and I said, 'If I'm crap, it's your fault.'"
Izzard was anything but crap, cracking the audience up with a fictionalized tale of McCartney's life that included claims that Jacques Cousteau and Brigitte Bardot were his parents and Muhammad Ali was one of the original Beatles.

Also in the audience were John Stamos, Jason Mraz, Randy Jackson, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Hugh Hefner, Yoko Ono, Corinne Bailey Rae, Breaking Dawn songstress Christina Perri, Bonnie Raitt, soap star Tamara Braun and E!'s own Giuliana Rancic and her hubby Bill. MusiCares is the Recording Academy's financial assistance program for members of the music community suffering from substance abuse issues and other critical illnesses. More than $6.5 million was raised at this year's gala, which in the past honored Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin and Neil Diamond.

Also last night, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke, Kym Johnson and Christina Milian hit producer Tricky Stewart's late-night bash at Greystone Manor. Earlier in the day, Glee stars Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz and Josh Sussman were a few of the young celebs who stopped by Pepsi's "We Love Pop" Grammy party with Pandora at the Candorolet House.

Readying the release of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, Katy Perry has announced that the first single from the re-issue, "Part of Me," will drop February 21. Confection will include all 12 tracks that originally appeared on Perry's double-platinum Teenage Dream and three new songs, along with versions of "E.T." featuring Kanye West and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" featuring Missy Elliott, an acoustic version of "The One That Got Away" produced by Jon Brion and a seven-minute megamix of the album's six singles. The album is set for a March 27 release.

"This is the complete story of Teenage Dream," Perry said in a statement. "It was an incredible honor to tie the King of Pop's Billboard Hot 100 record, but I'm moving forward and had a few things left to get off my chest. So this is the complete special edition of my album for my fans."

Tricky Stewart, who produced three tracks on the original Dream, told MTV News last fall that he was headed back into the studio with the pop star to rework some songs they'd recorded during the Dream sessions that didn't make the album because of "contractual obligations." "I can only have so many songs produced by me on the record," he added. "She didn't need to have extra songs."

"Katy and I went into [the studio] just to address some issues with records that we had done in the past that didn't end up going on Teenage Dream," Stewart told MTV News in October. "So we are in the process of just listening and freshening up things and getting ready for something special she has going on."

In its initial release, Teenage Dream tied Michael Jackson's record for the most #1s from a single record, putting five singles — "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework," "E.T." and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" — at the Billboard Hot 100 summit. New singles released from The Complete Confection will not, however, count toward besting Jackson's record.

Perry, 27, launched action in the Victorian Supreme Court, claiming her reputation was damaged by the NW article published last April. The story, tagged "world exclusive", alleged Perry was having an affair with her record producer.

It claimed the "intimate relationship" had put Perry's marriage to English actor and comedian Russell Brand in jeopardy. Perry's lawyer, Stuart Gibson, confirmed a confidential settlement had been reached this week with NW's publishers, ACP Magazines.

NW published an article last month titled "We're sorry Katy" and flagged it on the front cover. In her writ, Perry claimed NW showed reckless disregard for the truth and twice refused to apologise or retract the article. The singer rose to fame with I Kissed a Girl in 2008. She married Brand in a traditional Hindu ceremony in India in October 2010, but they have now divorced.

"Russell Brand to Katy Perry: I don't need your stinking millions!!!" That's the headline that really wasn't, as Brand and Perry have reached a property agreement in their divorce so amicable that Katy signed the papers with a heart and a smiley face on the dotted line.

He really didn't want the money he would have been entitled to under California's community property laws -- which would have included half of the $44 million she reportedly earned while they were Mr. and Mrs., according to TMZ. (Brand would have had to split his multimillion-dollar haul as well, of course, but she was the big breadwinner during the marriage.)

"This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch," a source told the website. The couple, who split up late last year, "have entered into a comprehensive written settlement of all issues, including, without limitation, with respect to the property to be confirmed or assigned to each party," said to court papers filed Tuesday in Los Angeles.

In the document obtained by TMZ, Katy's response to Russell's Dec. 30 divorce filing, the idea of spousal support is nixed, the property resolution is declared and Ms. Perry indicates a desire to go back to her maiden name, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson. Now it's just a matter of time until the divorce is made final.

So really, the headline should be something more like, "Russell Brand and Katy Perry: We don't need your stinking divorce court!!!"

New York Giants celebratory night got more interesting when pop star Katy Perry joined them in the festivities. According to various reports Perry partied with the Super Bowl winners until the early hours of Monday morning.
 
There are no reports suggesting Perry is dating a member from Tom Coughlin’s squad, therefore it was surprising for the paparazzi to see here there. The news has spread like a wildfire in media circles.
 
Media is speculating about who the 27-year-old is dating. They have already paired up Perry with a couple of players but there predictions are expected to be incorrect.
 
The last time Perry was rumored to be with a football player was back in January. Back then sources had reported that Perry’s parents were trying to set her up with Denver Broncos’ quarterback, Tim Tebow.
 
The media source stated that Perry’s pastor parents were eager to set her up Tebow. Tebow’s strong faith in Christianity fueled speculation about the couple. In the end, Perry showed no interest in Broncos’ coveted signal caller and Tebow seemed satisfied without her.
 
Now, Perry has official joined ranks with the Giants, however she has yet to prove her loyalty. Her tweets show that she remained undecided about which team to support till the Giants had won the Super Bowl.
 
Perry joined the mega party at Marriott hotel, in Indianapolis where the Giants were already celebrating their win over the New England Patriots. Perry was also seen chatting with Giants’ co-owner Steve Tisch and players Travis Beckum and Jake Ballard.  Perry remained neutral throughout the game. She had even adorned an outfit that showed her support for both teams. Her posts on her twitter account also had similar views.

Katy Perry reportedly "isn't ready" to talk about Russell Brand. The 'Firework' singer - who is being divorced by Russell after just 14 months of marriage - asked for the reporters to be removed from the red carpet press line at Saturday's (04.02.12) pre-game Super Bowl party in a bid to avoid questions about the split, according to The Huffington Post.

A source said: "Katy isn't ready to talk about what happened with Russell. She wanted to focus on putting on a great show at the hottest party of the weekend and enjoy hanging out with her friends. She knew that if she let media ask questions, they would ask her about Russell and she just didn't want to go there."Katy, 27 - who married the British comedian in an Indian ceremony in October 2010 - performed a nine-song set and dedicated her song 'Peacock' to NFL player Tim Tebow - who her religious parents are rumoured to want her to get with.

Meanwhile, Russell has reportedly set his sights on Katy look-a-like Zooey Deschanel. A source told America's OK! Magazine: "Russell has had his eye on Zooey for a long time. And he's been sending funny, flirty texts to see if they can get together.

"He thinks she's hysterically funny and cute, too. He loves her quirky sense of humor, and thinks they'd be great together both on-and off-screen. There's a real spark there."But Zooey - who filed for divorce from husband Ben Gibbard just days before Russell and Katy - is not said to be as keen to get involved with the 'Arthur' actor. The source said: "She's heard about his reputation as a womanizer, and isn't sure whether she's ready to rush into another relationship so quickly."

Katy Perry, devastated by her "failed" marriage, is receiving comfort and support from an unlikely source—her ex. Not Russell brand, her ex-boyfriend whom she dated before she met the rubber-faced Arthur star.

Katy Perry's ex-beau, Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy, has been a supportive and sympathetic friend following her break-up with Russell Brand. McCoy says he understands what Katy is going through, and he's trying to help her get through this traumatic period in her life. That's an incredibly generous attitude since he and Katy were once hot and heavy back in the day, circa 2008-2009. Then their relationship fell apart.

"There will always be a connection between us, I'll always be there for her," explained McCoy. "When you've been in a relationship like ours, you will always make time for that person. Katy was there for me through my hard times when things were really bad."

Obviously, McCoy and Katy Perry kept in touch after their break-up. However, unlike many former lovers who claim they're still friends, Brand and McCoy really are. "Life goes on," McCoy continued. "I have regrets about the way things ended, but there are no grudges anymore. I'll always be there for her, she knows that."

As for why things didn't work out between his ex girlfriend and her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Russell Brand, McCoy has his theories about that as well. "Do I think she got married to Russell too fast?" he added. "When you're feeling it, you're feeling it. You can't help how you feel."

So, there you have it. It's good that Katy Perry has a such a good friend to help her through these difficult times. On the other hand, if, as the rumor mill suggests, her marriage to and divorce from Russell Brand was just a cleverly executed publicity stunt for both parties, it's good she has Travie McCoy to help the devious couple perpetuate the deception.

Immersing herself in the Super Bowl XLVI festivities, Katy Perry turned up for DIRECTV's Sixth Annual Celebrity Beach Bowl After Party in Indianapolis, Indiana. The blue-haired "Last Friday Night" singer strutted her stuff on the Victory Field arrivals carpet while joining fellow partygoers including Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, David Arquette, Christina McLarty, Jane Krakowski, Mehcad Brooks and Christopher Meloni.

Prior to the DIRECTV soiree, Miss Perry made an appearance at Indy's Murat Theatre for the 2012 NFL Honors ceremony. The recently divorced 27-year-old joined NFL star Cam Newton in presenting an award, during which time she playfully said to the Carolina Panthers quarterback: "You'll be the first straight man I've had a photo with in a long time, so live up to it.""I am," a grinning Cam replied, getting a big laugh from the star-laden audience in attendance.
