Katy Perry has swapped her signature raven locks for a fiery new hairdo. The Firework singer turned to Twitter to talk about her new redhead look as she launched her Purr fragrance in Toronto, Canada. "On my way to launch PURR in TORONTO! FINALLY CA has PURR avail to them! P.s. If u see a ginger haired girl that looks like me, it's me!"
A natural blonde, Perry told fans on Twitter two weeks ago that she had gone for a new style. The singer, who is teasing out the style change with regular updates, advised followers, "I'll get to my secret color(s) soon! #patience". But while her fans may have been heartened to get the first glimpse of her new look, Perry's live perfume promotion on a stage outside of Toronto's Eaton Centre was less popular with those old enough to drive. The city's main thoroughfare was closed for six hours drawing the ire of local commuters.
"I think it’s ridiculous, and it’s a waste of people’s time. It’s somebody who’s here for a promotion of perfume and who is making money," fumed Armando Sardelliti as he hunted in vain for a CBD parking spot.
The host of the event, Sears Canada, was granted a permit to close off Yonge Street between 10am and 4pm but Perry's appearance failed to attract the anticipated crowd of around 5000 fans. With a turn-out of just 1500, according to Toronto police estimates, Toronoto City Councillor Doug Holyday commented that, "It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. You wonder why it couldn't have been held somewhere where it wouldn't block off the street."
