This week Katy Perry's latest single "The One That Got Away" entered the top 10 for the first time. That makes it the sixth top 10 hit from her album Teenage Dream. This is the first time since 1994 when Janet Jackson landed her sixth top 10 from janet that any album has generated six top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Beginning with Michael Jackson's landmark Thriller released in 1982, a string of six albums generated six or seven top 10 hits over a 12 year period. Katy Perry has broken a 17 year dry spell for albums producing at least six top 10 hits.
The Teenage Dream album made history earlier this year as it became the only album outside of Michael Jackson's Bad to generate five #1 hits. "The One That Got Away" could still become her sixth #1 and set an all time record for most #1 hits from an album, but for now she will be pleased with a sixth top 10 hit.
