After "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi's disappointing sorority girl spectacle with Kristen Chenoweth and Shania Twain, it was hilarious to see tonight's celebrity judge, Katy Perry, pull the plug on her pleas for "girl power." During the season nine auditions show tonight, which hosted the Los Angeles hopefuls, pop star Perry was repeatedly contrary with the songwriter, DioGuardi.

Contestant Chris Golightly's ordeals growing up and moving around foster homes touched many people's hearts, but Katie Perry cut down Kara DioGuardi's sappy inclinations about his poignant story, "This isn't a Lifetime movie, honey," she curtly reminded her fellow panelist.

Another fun moment came after Jason Greene's particularly enthusiastic performance of The Divinyls' 90's masterpiece on masturbation "I Touch Myself." [video below]

"I feel dirty," Perry said cautiously afterward. And, reading most viewers minds, added, "and it takes a lot to make me feel dirty." "Especially in that shirt," the contestant remarked of her cute, cleavage-revealing, coral dress. She  was mostly unphased. One can imagine that Katy Perry's had her share of dealing with catty, snarky twinks and knows how to stay classy.

"They did enjoy this, every inch of it," the voracious vocalist told "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest outside. Then, written on an Orbit gum package, he offered Seacrest his phone number. "As much as you may believe what you read, here's the guy you should be giving it to," the good-humored host joked.

By the way, Avril Lavigne was there for the first half, the first day of judging in Hollywood. (Almost as forgettable as the Adam Lambert fan AJ Mendoza's bizarre cover of Living Colour's "Cult of Personality," from early in the episode. To think, you'd almost gotten over the creeps that gave you.) As much fun as Avril Lavigne is to indulge in, she was another bland judge. Though, the irony was almost too much when Simon Cowell ranted at a singer for trying too hard to dress like a punk-rocker, while Lavigne sat next to him in her Hot Topic hoodie, pulled up over her head indoors, adorned with fabric horns. Tomorrow, guest judge Joe Jonas titillates the tweens, while Neil Patrick Harris has to wonder why the hell he was picked to be there.
